RE: Star Wars Andor
Finally got around to watching Andor.

About halfway through Season 2.

I agree they get the pacing wrong sometimes. Just as tension starts to rise or the action starts to increase they slow it all down again.

But on reflection, I think this is the best live action product from Star Wars since Rogue One.

Casting and acting: perfect
Aesthetics and design: excellent
World-building: great
Intrigue and ambiguity: lots of it
Childish Jedi magic: none of it
Action scenes: not enough of them, but great when they come

This is what the prequels should have been. Creating a realistic universe as a grounded setting for the original trilogy fairy tale.

Funny enough I too finally got around to bingeing both seasons start to finish over the past few evenings. It actually might be the best way to watch it, guess my brain is too busy taking in every nuance not to get bored by any slowing of pace. The worst bit was the start of season two with those very irrating dudes Andor got stuck with.

But all in all I'll mirror the previous post, it's the best piece of live action Star Wars I've ever seen (outside of my nostalgia of the orginal trilogy) and just very good televion and filmography full stop. I actually watched Rogue One again straight after and suddenly found I didn't quite like as much as I originally did. It now felt too rushed, that's what Andor did to me lol

Disney need to throw the money at creator & showrunner Tony Gilroy for more Star Wars projects.

I originally gave up about half way through "season" 1 but as it's back again I decided to have another go. Once again it was a bit like wading through treacle at times but I found a hitherto undiscovered cache of patience and managed to keep at it which turned out to be generally worth it.

I watched Rogue One again the other week which probably prompted me to give this another go and it's good to see that the sets & ships actually fit in with what comes after, unlike the prequels which manage to look more futuristic that the original trilogy even though they were set in the past.

I'm currently working on season 2 and quite enjoying, even with the odd bump in the road like the Episode 1 Morons mentioned by Skully and the bizarre sight of Mon Mothma throwing shapes at a post-wedding Rave Bounce

RE: Star Wars Andor
The great thing about Andor, IMO, is how it opens up the possibility of more films/shows that stay in the Star Wars universe but aren’t beholden to the crap sandwich of the Prequels and Sequels.

Turns out that the galaxy if a big place, with lots of different people and planets. Not every story needs to reference the Jedi or spend time on a desert planet. The tiniest threads from the opening crawl of A New Hope gave us Rogue 1 and Andor. So I just looked up the opening crawl of Empire Strikes Back and it has tantalising lines like: “Imperial troops have driven Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursued them across the galaxy” … that sounds like a streaming series to me!

(Of course, it’s possible — even likely — that Disney will completely squander this opportunity so I’m also prepared for a new trilogy about Ewok Jedis).

I think the Bothans deserve a series. Many of them died to get the 2nd Death Star plans and the poor buggers have barely had a thank you.
