Private Pike in Dad's Army aka Ian Lavender has passed away at the age of 77.

A sad loss indeed.

Very sad news.
Pike was such a great character in such a classic sit-com, and Ian Lavender played him to perfection.

I’m not even slightly religious but the thought of him standing at the Pearly Gates and being asked his name by Saint Peter, only for Arthur Lowe’s voice to respond with that famous line did make me chuckle when I heard the news this afternoon.

Ian lived out his retirement in the glorious countryside of God's own county Suffolk.
