China Open

The China Open is back after 7 years! It was last played in 2019, and Neil Robertson is the current holder after he beat Jack Lisowski 11-4 in the final.

The event will take place in Taiyuan, China from 8-16 August. The qualifiers are taking place in Leicester this week.

Although Milkins and Artemijs Zizins are no longer professionals, as 2 of the highest ranking amateurs they're bound to be invited to play in most professional tournaments this season. Milkins won, Zizins lost.

Sean O'Sullivan may have just regained his tour card at Q School, but he went down 6-2 to a resurgent Jimmy White.

Reanne Evans beat Alfie Davies 6-4. Mitchell Mann beat Liam Graham 6-5.

Jimmy White lost to Louis Heathcote. Milkins lost to Long Zehuang. Michael Holt made a 147 in a 6-1 demolition of Mark Joyce. Mitchell Mann beat David Grace 6-2. Reanne Evans lost.

The players ranked 17-32 enter the fray in round 3.

Noppon knocked out maximum man Michael Holt 6-4. Luca Brecel won a deciding frame to beat Jamie Clarke 6-5. Sadly Carter beat Gao Yang 6-4, and McGill beat Ishpreet 6-2. Vafaei beat Marco Fu 6-3.

Wins for Zhang Anda, David Gilbert, Jackson Page and Zhou Yuelong. Thepchaiya lost to Yao Pengcheng.

Performance of the day was Tom Ford, coming back from 5-0 down to beat Liam Highfield 6-5, making 2 century breaks on the way.

Matthew Selt beat Carter 6-5

Jack Lisowski won't be going to China this time, as he lost 6-1 to Chang Bingyu. Brecel got whitewashed by Bingham. Yao Pengcheng continued his progress, beating He Guoqiang 6-2. Jiang Jun is also safetly through to China after beating Jimmy Robertson 6-4. Aaron Hill won the last 3 frames against Gary Wilson to win 6-5. McGill beat Joe O'Connor 6-2.

Wins for Zhang Anda, Jackson Page, Zhou Yuelong, Pang Junxu, Gilbert, and Vafaei. All go through to the next round.

The tournament proper starts in China on August 8th, where the qualifiers will be joined by the top 16.
