They were within their rights to pull out within the time, but it's a bad look, especial when a player does a vid about his expected new team.

RE: NFL News
The Department of Justice has opened a probe into whether the NFL is harming consumers in the way it sells its broadcast rights.

The league has been skirting the Sports Broadcasting Act with International Friday Games at the beginning of the season, and the Black Friday game for a few years now

The NFL is shopping a new 5-game package for the 2026 season. CBS/Fox might be trying get in on the action with their streaming services.

I won't say the outcome of this will help consumers. I don't know about you guys, but the viewers in the US have severe Streaming fatigue. The league is spread across multiple streaming services if you want to watch all games....Legally

Give them less, they will pay more

RE: NFL News
^^ The NFL's greed has come at a price for the customers & the teams. I take what I can via Sky Sports subscription & one free to air channel which gave me about 9 games per week. When my team doesn't feature I watch the Red Zone coverage. I know that there are streaming options available but I'm not paying extra on top of what I already do.
The International games are just disruptive, I imagine a European division would be the first step but that seems like a dream.
Dragging 2 teams half way round the world in week one is madness, & that's before you get into the conspiracy theory that the Rams lobbied to play the Niner as they regularly get out numbered by the red & gold at their home games.
I heard the NFL commissioner speak about growing the game & what a great spectacle & show it would be in Melbourne. He glossed over what is means to the teams with all the extra disruption & jet-lag involved they are risking de-railing the season for 2 teams before it's had a chance to get going. Despite the pre-season in the first month it can often take time for teams to hit their stride. International matches compromise the chances of the teams involved, especially for teams with serious playoff hopes. The schedule is bad enough with short weeks often a factor.
The NFL wont rest until they have a game on every day of the week, all about the dollars they pretend but don't really care about player welfare,
An 18 game season could be a thing even as early as next year, it will happen soon, & could alleviate some of the problems.

At this point, it might not be a conspiracy theory. The Rams have had a checkered past when it comes to support from the LA fans since the late 70s. The Chargers were the home team for last season's Brazil Game. Things were so bad they had to use a silent count when they moved to LA Rolleyes

Honestly, it sounds like crowd noise is piped in when the Chargers play at SoFi.

You make a good point about de-railing a season from the start. The Chiefs didn't recover from that opening game loss for a few weeks. Even when they seemed to be back on track, they never really found their rhythm. Super Bowl hangover perhaps, but the travel can get to teams.

Some teams view mid week games as a chance to have a mini bye week. That only seems to help towards the end of the season though
