Their first spot in a water meadow yields a grayling, as Paul marks another birthday, whilst their second spot is less interesting but Bob manages to get the trout in the teeth of a rainstorm. Paul also talks to actor Jim Murray about his hopes to help salmon stocks in chalk streams.

8.2 To Carmarthenshire, at a point where the river Towy meets the river Cothi, in an attempt to snag a sea trout. This leads to them fishing into the dark night, where Bob eventually comes up trumps.

IMOW: Frederick Forsyth
Another year, another series (and another writer I've not read). He was bemused by some of his old clips, but tight-lipped on MI6. He denied ever claiming to have retired, despite the clips. He was supposedly planning his first book for 7 years at the time of filming, but he's dead now. I was surprised that following his first short marriage, his second lasted 36 years.

12.6 One of those weeks which remind me how much I disagree with the judges, who shortlisted ALL the Beth Rigby efforts, despite them being so lousy, and picked a winner that made her look fit for Sesame Street.
Shane Lynch had at least 2 portraits that would have looked fine in a museum, whilst Gabby Logan perhaps suffered as someone last week painted Emily so it finished looking like Gabby.

Joe Manchin's anecdotes get progressively deeper into history.

Unspun World w/John Simpson
No mention of Gaza this week, but plenty of time to suggest that Russia are (again) on the point of defeat in Ukraine, that Brazil are baddies despite hosting COP30, and that China of course are on the brink of invading Taiwan (at least by 2027).

The Listening Post - Media, Money & Zohran Mamdani
A pre-election special on how Big Media tried spurious character assassination to somehow persuade NY to instead vote for some creepy sex fiend instead.

Real Time w/Bill Maher
Not really a peep on Mamdani, but he did have Marjorie Taylor Greene as a guest and seeming woker than her host.

Lethal Waters - Climate Change in Pakistan
Azadeh Moshiri gets to wade through flood waters and consider what happens when you're a country with seven thousand glaciers and don't cause much global warming yourself, but still get the unpleasant end of the stick.

An intriguing development of the format with Pacino and Coppola the main chatters, but Keaton and de Niro included among the many others (even Talia Shire and archive of Marlon Brando suggested a breadth of content).
