She did this year's Children in Need challenge, and I did rather tune out to think she should tell Scott Mills or Trevor Nelson that they should put their names down for next year, or else find themselves going with Jeremy Vine on a tandem through the Cotswolds.

It was easy to be cynical at the bones of triceratops and tyrannosaur, but the later stuff on the futabasaurus and other discoveries of the last 50 years felt revelatory.

A sculptress who had a sad, bad childhood, and made Tilda Swinton sleep in a box, to the ire of Brian Sewell. She'd had mental health battles, but seemed robust at this time.

The Footage Detectives
The highlight was footage from some celeb-fest in Sith Efrica in 1969 (!), with Julie Newmar, and a bikini-clad Lee Meriwether interviewed by the pool.

8.5 To Ceredigion in Wales, firstly to a safe little place where they both catch well, before heading to the coast to try shark-fishing (or tope, anyway), with less success.

8.6 To the river Findhorn, in the Highlands, ostensibly to find salmon, though they do better catching trout. Paul's had a skin issue on his scalp, so Bob gave him a haircut. Bob cooked venison buns, and later caught a tiddly salmon all by himself.

Been another steady series of entertainment, given they presumably never expected to last this long when they started it.

12.9 The semi-final sees the 8 heat winners confronted by Mary Berry and her dog, plus several prop ideas. Two of the chosen finalists are pretty good, the third is more of a gimmick choice.
