7 - Camino de Santiago, Spain
The most blatant crossover with the Pilgrimage series, even as he suggests there are several routes to the same end. He liked the taste of octopus, and also tetilla cheese; especially the story of how the latter originated from a row over the size of the boobs on a statue of the Queen of Sheba in Santiago Cathedral.

8 - Eagle's Nest Trail, Poland
The last in this series concerns old King Casimir and his 16 defensive castles. Robson had another crack at abseiling, tried horse meditation, walked through a creepy forest and a small desert, and checked out a cave of bats.

Overall, a fine series and I'd expect to enjoy another one if it turns up later in the year.

Oscar-nominated Iranian film director Jafar Panahi (and his lady translator friend) made for a compelling guest, and improved the quality of this edition.

1/6 Another multi-part series I've been largely failing to watch despite many attempts. The opener covered Steve Allen presenting Tonight, making a success of it, leaving, the struggle for a replacement, Jack Paar proving surprisingly successful, then finally Johnny Carson taking over.

11.8 The final took place at the Falkirk Wheel; there were also the commissions to judge too. It could have been any of them, but the winner took a bigger risk with the Wheel, and did Corfe Castle at distance in her commission (unlike the bloke who did the road he lived on).

11.9 The commission was of Croagh Patrick, although the more they harped on about St Patrick and it being "Ireland's Holy Mountain" that it seemed less a painting than an advert for a dogma. The National Gallery of Ireland liked their finished result; I was less taken.
