Inland Visions: Dagestan
Sean Thomas gets out of the studio to visit the Sulak Canyon and the Sarykum Dune.

Last Week Tonight w/John Oliver
The many ways Trump is changing DC, beyond his ballroom obsession. Also the pernicious Factoring Companies and how they prey on those with Structured Settlements.

Real Time w/Bill Maher
Skipped the last two as I don't care about Gavin Newsom or John Fetterman, and for my pains this week he talked to a guy who agrees with him about crypto being bad, and two other guys who agreed about pandemics and China. Then he closed by celebrating Israel being 78.

2.5 On to Philadelphia, to try a 2ft/5lb hoagie w/bacon & pulled pork, then learn about the Presidential connection with mac & cheese, before a challenge involving a 13lb bagel packed with salmon, whitefish, capers and - it being Philadelphia - cream cheese, which he needed 2 other friends to help with, and a half hour limit. No-one had ever completed the challenge before, and it didn't happen this day either.
MvF
2.6 Up to Seattle, to try the Mt Fuji burger (with 17 layers including pork, beef and chicken), the Horton Heat Hash (with corned beef & 3 eggs), and a challenge involving 7 wings in 7 minutes. Oh wait, 7 wings coated in ultra-thick ultra-spicy sauce. 90% fail. Casey joins their number.

The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
A prolonged clips megamix to imagine Trump in a job interview; two economists who've written a book about trade wars; a final vintage clip of Stephen Colbert in his Daily Show early years.

Unspun World
John considers the aftermath of Trump's trip to China, Starmer's many troubles (though not the Mandelson aspect), and then chat about A.I. (he finds chatbots to sycophantic, though he pronounced it "psycho-phantic" which I guess counts as something). He also mentioned China and Iran's record on executions, in contrast to what excuse the U.S. has for its own record.

Dickie Attenborough's under-rated 1992 biopic (though compared to films about Gandhi and Churchill, something of a curveball) helped make Robert Downey Jr's name. Gee.
CM: Three Days of the Condor
In a surprise move, Ian lets Stephen present his script. Neil finds his glasses, having not needed them last week. And Bonnie Greer returns to add her $0.02 since she was alive and American at the time the film was released.

The premise remains bizarre, though Telly, bless him, reads his script well.

Pete Murray Takes You To Coventry
Maybe Telly wanted too much money? Pete has fun with the city famous for a nudey lady riding a horse there. Reportedly commoners complained they couldn't see anything. How times change etc

TFI: Unplugged
The last in this run has nice archive chats with Kylie, Dolly, Noel and the 3 survivors from Take That. I'd expect more shows in the autumn, maybe before?

2.7 Down to LA for a Bamf (waffles, chicken, mac & cheese), then a Meatzza burger (topped with a pizza), before the Zombie burrito challenge, a 2lbs effort full of various hot sauces. Nobody had apparently tried it before, but with no time limit, he sticks at it until he finishes it.
