NFL 2025-2026 season

As a Niners fan I was hoping for, rather than expecting some help with the early games before the game against the Buccs, who should be too strong for the 49ers. When all the NFC West games play out it could be a 3 way tie at 4-2. My prediction for 3rd place in the division for the Niners looks a decent bet.

Where is the Jets first win coming from, the franchise is in a mess, from Rodgers to Fields at QB, neither was ever going to be the answer. Minus 10 passing yards, sacked 9 times, ouch.

The broncos made heavy heavy duty of that game
As of the jets offense it was painful to watch and find any positives

Whilst just finished watching the ravens game if there confidence was higher they would have finished some there chances in the red zone the week off feel longer as I would have them training and getting injured players hopefully back to full fitness

Chiefs 30 - 17 Lions
It looked like the Chiefs found their mojo after the mistakes during last weeks loss to the Jags. Mahomes passed for 3 TD's & ran for another. It was a near perfect performance on offense against a Lions secondary missing a number of starters. Mahomes was able to spread the ball around, Hollywood Brown come up big with 2 TD's & Kelce had 6 grabs for 78 yards. The passing game was complimented by useful if not spectacular yards on the grownd courtesy of Pacheco, Mahomes & Hunt.
Goff was as efficient as ever, but held in check with just 203 yards passing. The usually productive Gibbs & Montgomery combined for under 100 yards.
The Lions weren't that far off the pace, small margins. The long opening drive ended in a Goff TD reception, only for it to be scrubbed off on review for an illegal motion penalty. Having to settle for a field goal was a big blow. They failed twice on 4th down attempts, usually they make a high percentage of those plays.
The game ended in a brawl as frustrations boiled over.

Buccs 30 - 17 49ers
Despite having 347 yards passing, Mac Jones threw 2 costly interceptions & was unable to finish drives off, as Pinero was 4/4 on field goals. Jones was sacked 6 times with the Buccs piling on the pressure.
The game was still close up until the end of the 3rd quarter when the Buccs pulled away. The 49ers suffered another major injury blow with star Linebacker Fred Warner out to a season ending ankle injury which will require surgery.

Falcons 24 - 14 Bills
Whilst there were many twists & turns, the key passage of play was with the score at 21 - 14 in favour of the Falcons, the Bills blocked the field goal attempt which would've given Atlanta a vital 2 score lead, but on their next possession the Bills fumbled the exchange on an end around on 3 & 1 which gave all the momentum back to the Falcons. After a number of drives stalled, the Falcons eventual extended the lead to 10 points.
The Bills only hope was a quick strike & an on-side kick. They reached the red zone but Allen threw an interception & the game was all but over for them.
Both teams are among the leagues highest scoring offences, but the Bills faltered on the night, credit has to go to the Falcons defence that limited them by applying pressure on Allen who had only 157 passing yards & was sacked 4 times. The Bills were only able to convert twice from nine 3rd down attempts.
Penix had a tidy game, Drake London caught 10 passes for 158 yards & a TD.
Bijan Robinson had yet another stella game with 170 tards on 19 carries & a TD, together with 6 receptions for 68 yards.
Not a time to panic, but this was the Bills 2nd straight loss & are now level in the AFC East with the Pats who are going in the opposite direction with 3 consecutive wins.
The Falcons have now won 2 on the bounce, 2 games behind the Buccs, but with a game in hand after last weeks bye.

On reflection, the Bills must have some deeper problems, their 4 game winning streak to start the season has come against teams with just 3 wins between them. A combined record of 3-21. Given the schedule to come if things don't improve they could struggle to finish the season with a winning record & they would be battling to even make the playoffs.
No one team has a right to advance to the Super Bowl, least of all to win one, but the Bills have an elite QB in Josh Allen, one of the very best to play the position, I feel he has been let down by the owners for not surrounding him with enough top quality players to allow him to have a much better chance of winning the sought after ring that his stella career deserves. They team leans too heavily on his broad shoulders, he can't be expected to carry the whole burden.

Tennessee Titans are the first franchise to sack their Head Coach this season, Brian Callahan was shown the door after a loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
They seem to be in a spiral of sacking GM's & Head Coaches. Since Vrabel was sacked in 2023 they have gone 4-19 after having the worst record last season which has continued into this. The mistake to part company with Vrabel is highlighted by the fact that he has already coached the Pats to 4 wins this season.

It was a big surprise to me that ex-49er kicker Jake Moody played his part, he made 4 field goals including the game winner, although he had one kick blocked.
Good for him to bounce back, he looked a wreck before the Niners cut him.
