RE: Football Banter
I got Chat GPT to rank me the the top 10 most prolific goal scorers by goal average per game of the 1970's and and based on a minimum of 50 First Division Appearances, it came up with this. I was surprised that Keegan wasn't on it, I had half expected him to be on it, Snooks probably remembers John Richards I don't vaguely picture him, but did also expect Trevor Francis to be higher. Mick Channon sits outside this list, at about 103 goals in 274 First Division appearances, or 0.376 per game.

Rank Player First Division clubs counted in the 1970s Goals Apps Goals/game
1 Malcolm Macdonald Newcastle United, Arsenal 137 271 0.506
2 Francis Lee Manchester City, Derby County 95 207 0.459
3 Bob Latchford Birmingham City, Everton 129 285 0.453
4 Andy Gray Aston Villa, Wolves 66 148 0.446
5 John Toshack Liverpool 74 169 0.438
6 Martin Chivers Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich City, Brighton 102 235 0.434
7 Trevor Francis Birmingham City 91 219 0.416
8 John Richards Wolves 113 275 0.411
9 Tony Brown West Bromwich Albion 94 246 0.382
10 Allan Clarke Leeds United 93 245 0.380

Any agreemenents/disagreements? I would think Charlie George would think fit in lower if I'd done a top 20, but if it was a 90's list I would almost Certainly think Thierry Henry would figure somewhere near the top.

RE: Football Banter
Tonight's football match is a bit strange
Manchester City need the win, and need to score as many as possible for their goal difference
Both teams have finals within the next couple of weeks. Neither want any injuries to their team and they need their players as fresh as possible.

But City also don't want any of the Palace players sent off. It will just mean that a weaker team play Arsenal

It's coming to the end of the session and I've never noticed so many player who are leaving clubs. From Salah to Tripper, Casemiro to Alison. I notice that French international Antoine Griezmann is moving on from Atletico Madrid.

Despite losing It does look like Tottenham in a strange way, escape relegation I think (& hope I'm right) by virtue of better GD to West Ham

Not as yet, as Spurs are only 2 points ahead of us. It might go down to whether Dave Moyes wants West Ham to stay up and tries his best to beat Spurs, or whether he wants to stick it to us for firing him twice.

I would imagine Spurs and West ham will be selling a lot of players at the end of the season, whatever the outcome.

Leeds might decide that they would prefer West Ham in the Prem next season & let them win. Wink If Spurs stay up, they wont be as bad as this season, they have a better squad than West Ham. Everton are not in great form, but Spurs are playing terrible. in all honesty Leeds will be trying, but I can really envisage wins West Ham & Everton, it's possible.
