2026 World Cup and Qualifiers

England have two friendlies coming up just before the World Cup. Matches against Uruguay and Japan.
Eberechi Eze has withdrawn from the squad, and has been replaced by Newcastle's Harvey Barnes. Pleased that Barnes has got the chance after committing himself to play for England. Apparently he also qualified for Scotland because his grandfather visited Scotland for a day in 1934.
But he'll have to put in a good performance if he's to be in the final World Cup squad.
Also back is Ben White after withdrawing from Internationals after falling out with one of the England coaches under a previous manager.

Italy on the brink of missing another World Cup. One last half of Extra Time and then penalty shootout against Bosnia Herzegovina.

Denmark are out. Beaten 3-1 on pens by Czech Republic after a 2-2 draw.

If you think that it was a bad night for England, you should at least be grateful that we've already qualified. Italy haven't. Bosnia win 4- 1 on penalties.

I have to say while it is a first loss to a team from Asia it was a friendly and people do read way too much into friendlies, the biggest problem
I think Tuchel has now is how does he pick a team that has a good balance a good mix of youth and experience to the USA based on the two games? I know that Kane will be on the squad list along with several others but I think at some point, Tuchel has pick a team without him in it and see how it fares. We can't rely on Kane to dig us out of trouble for vey much longer I would think. But one thing I hope Tuchel will learn is that England need to be far more positive in playing style in the US, the the way we play needs to be better to excite the crowds.

Italy are the first nation in history to release World Cup kits to a World Cup they will not play in.

That story's not actually true, because all 10 of the countries who lost in the play offs had an official World Cup kit released, not just Italy. This happened because for the countries that qualified from the play offs there wouldn't have been time to launch a new kit between now and the World Cup starting, so it had to be done before the play offs.

Graham Potter will also be at the World Cup after managing Sweden through the qualifying rounds.
