The Conservation Society has just announced the sad death of David Bellamy, aged 86

Another one from my childhood passes on. RIP David.

Think he was one of the most impersonated Conservationists on TV

Aw what shame, like Carl he was one of my childhood heroes too, his shows were really great and informative and personally I used to do a decent impression of him (as did Lenny Henry in his young days) His programmes were always entertaining and different. I remember the time he landed on some piece of land and was promptly arrested! Always fought hard for the flora and fauna of the world. Sad loss.

RIP David.

Yes, can only echo those referring to him as an icon of their childhood. A formidable eco-campaigner whom not enough people listened to, and as a result we may well be all joining him sooner than we would like.
