Social media - Cesspit of the modern age?

The only thing I find annoying about Facebook & Instagram is the ads, I only follow people I'm interested in and rarely see anything I don't want to.

Twitter on the other hand seems to be doing it's best to ram every crackpot belief down my throat in spite of my attempts to block all sorts of words.

Too much of what I see on social media is people all too happy to play judge, jury and executioner on all things without due knowledge of all the facts.
Day after day, week after week, month after month. Endless speculative tittle tattle and self righteous bollocks.

Threads is a breath of fresh air so far. I only see occasional political posts on there and I block them instantly whatever side of the fence they ooze from. See also football, they're 2 sides of the same coin IMHO.

However I'm not convinced that naming a Social Media service after a depressing 80's Nuclear War drama is particularly wise

I have to roll my eyes at all talk or proposals around banning children from using social media.
The overwhelming misuse of social media that causes so many problems is by adults and not children .
So much of the harmful content online is put there by adults not kids a lot of which causes safeguarding issues .
The offensive bile, misinformation and conspiracy theory is put out there primarily by adults rather than children .
Why should children pay a penalty for reprehensible behaviour of adults who should know better?

But of course nobody would ever ban adults from using it .
