If all the reports in the papers were accurate - was the increase in defence actually done to respond to the threat from Putin - or is there actually a secret loophole within it that is sending money to Mauritius for Chagos?

One way or another Chagos is seriously going to bite Starmer on the bum.

Anneliese Dodds has thrown her toys out of the pram and resigned from the Cabinet over the decision to cut Foreign Aid to fund
increased Defence spending. I hope the door didn't hit her on the arse on the way out.

I guess she can count herself lucky it wasn't a revolving door I suppose.

Credit where it's due. Starmer's treatment of President Zelenskyy was a total opposite to that which he received in Washington yesterday. Met at the car & walked in, a chat over drinks in No 10 and then walked back to his car when he left.

I wonder if he'll now get King to offer Zelenzky a full state visit rather than one for Trump?

I bet JFK would have given Zelenzky better treatment yesterday. I wonder how he would view Trump? I can see many more european leaders likely getting the same treatment as Zelenzky.

A bit of a contrast to say the least...

I have to say Starmer does deserve credit for showing respect to Zelensky yesterday and trust now King Charles makes a full state visit for Zelensky more of a reality. however I do think the King probably is in a difficult position and is now wondering if Trump's visit should go ahead. I have heard there are polls (& maybe petitions) against Trump's visit, and I can only wonder if London would become a battleground for clashes between pro Trump & anti Trump supporters should Trump's visit still goes ahead & hope more European leaders follow Starmer's example.
