37/40 Tom Croft returns to talk on Pushing Colour In Portraiture, which is about taking risks with use of colours. At least he talks like he's actually giving a lecture, and aware that it's a situation which calls for some humour.
38/40 Similarly, Stuart Jarvis talks on Creating Textures In Charcoal Landscapes, and makes it feel that he's not doing anything that couldn't be done by a viewer. By covering the whole canvas in charcoal, he can use a number of rubbers to add white to his picture, as well as using charcoal for the dark areas.

39/40 Jude Wainwright talks on Narrative in Portraiture, which becomes the nearest the series has got to surrealism, as she cobbles together a painting based on a dream, with 3 printed pix put together as a guideline.
40/40 The final edition brings back watercolourist Charles Williams to talk on Improvising With Watercolour, in which he makes 3 pictures, taking in turns to add to each one, and what seem like random daubs end up as pictures of a horse, a monkey, and a trumpeter. Both these editions were more freeform than others in the series.
Overall, whilst I enjoyed this 2nd series, it left me less interested to take up painting/drawing than the 1st did, and I hope there's a longer break before any 3rd series.

Clive James in Japan
A 2-part trip from 1987, though oddly the 2nd part is a fair bit shorter. He tackles many, many cliches like geishas, funny hotels, the bullet train, sumo, tea ceremonies, Takeshi's Castle, and ends on karaoke.

Dancing With Gravity
Climbing again, as Kadota Gihado went to Vail in Colorado to tackle a route known as "Sephira". Unlike the free climbers, he was able to use 2 ice axes, and safety ropes, but he had some kind of upper body strength deficit and kept getting stuck so far along. A couple of Americans gave him encouragement, and he eventually cracked the route. However, because he took an unsanctioned rest, he had to do it again properly. He did, mind.

How Islam Built The Modern World, with Jim al-Khalili
Despite such billing, Professor Jim just does the narration, and sits in some presumably English studio, whilst Dr Hayat Sindi gets to visit San Francisco, Los Angeles, a vineyard and so on, to discuss waterwheel developments, astronomical charts, algorithms & algebra, plus developments in medicine, flights, optics, robotics and the double-suction pump (!)
