Liam Rosenior appointed. Yes Maresca can always say he won the club world cup - not a bad thing to have on your CV - but now we move forward with a new manager. I hope all Chelsea supporters give him a fair chance and don't get on his back because he isn't a big enough name.

RE: Chelsea FC
Liam Rosenior will be the second youngest manager in the Premier League, after Fabian Hürzeler of Brighton.

I don't know anything tops Roberto di Matteo getting canned after just 8 months despite winning them the FA Cup/ Champions League double.

Big DiMatteo fan as a player, but — in fairness — he didn’t have a stellar career as manager either before or after that Champions League run. I think he was just in the right place at the right time and had the good sense to let a team stacked with “leaders” — Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Cech — manage itself to the title.

How many managers is that now?
I have to say it isn't a name I recognise. I do remember a Leroy Rosenior (who I think spent a fair part at Watford I think), but I don't know if Liam has any connection to him in any way.

I still think Maresca's walkout has to be one of the strangest ways for me for a manager to leave this season. I have to say looking back I think Di Matteo was hard done by and deserved far better treatment than he actually got after what he achieved in fairness.

Liam Rosenior is the son of Leroy Rosenior.

I make it 30 managers in the Premier League era (i.e. since 1992), although only 20 of those were 'permanent' appointments.

I think the interims have to be included, because one of the them (Benitez) lasted longer than four of the permanent managers.

What a difference in Chelsea when they replaced Alejandro Garnacho yesterday. Yes there were another 2 players who were changed but he's the weak link in the Chelsea squad.

RE: Chelsea FC
No way is Garnacho the weak link in the Chelsea squad. Overall he's had a better season than many, better than Liam Delap, better than Jamie Gittens, better than Benoit Badiashile, better than Jorrel Hato. Hato might be the weak link, as there are a couple of matches in which he's been given a real runaround at left back.

Garnacho is still only 21, so the jury has to be out on how good he will or won't become. He's scored 5 goals as a substitute this season, which is a fair accomplishment. He got his first cap for Argentina at the age of 18 (skipping the under-21s entirely), so hopefully he can fulfill the potential that many have seen in him.

RE: Chelsea FC
Based on Garnacho’s last few appearances — including the full 90 minutes against a weak Hull side — I’ve gotta agree with Charle.

He has a lot of energy and skills, but his decision-making is poor and he has no tactical awareness. It’s all sound and fury signifying nothing. A lot of misplaced passes, one dribble too many, and lost balls followed by frustrated tackles.

Might be a slump. Or he may not be good enough for Chelsea.
