Jilly Cooper's The Rivals season 2 episode 1. Quality writing, based on the Jilly Cooper books. Quality acting. Actors such as Aidan Turner, David Tennant, Danny Dyer and Emily Atack in roles they were made for! Quality production, a throwback to those 1980s Jenny Seagrove TV productions like Woman of Substance and Hold the Dream.

A good start to season 2, focussing more on the plots and sub-plots rather than finding excuses for characters to get into bed with one another. I hope the season continues in the same vein. A fantastic tribute to the late Jilly Cooper!
