Actually a different series, albeit on the same premise. This 1807 effort depicts some bloke's mistress, qui s'appelle "Madame Duvaucey", in a time where mistresses were accepted but typically left legally unconnected, so they'd get gifts like diamonds to tide them over. If that seems dull, wait until they start harping on about how many diamonds came from India - so riveting it made me nostalgic for Crazy Legs Crane looking for gold.

TWIAP: Caravaggio's Comb
This gem, depicting Martha and Mary Magdalene, ties in the Catholic Church's taste in subject matter, the premise that ivory depicts purity, that before the Portuguese discovered elephants in Africa the ivory came from walruses in Greenland (!), and that hairstyles tell a thousand words.
I found this all more interesting than the previous one, which may bode well given there's 2 more left.

Michael Palin follows a long coastal route to Tralee so he can look up his family tree, though records in the aftermath of the great famine aren't quite as thorough as he hopes. But he does get to shovel coal to drive a steam train, so that's something.

Film Night: Angela Lansbury talks to Rex Reed at the NFT
The same format as other of these NFT repeats, though Lansbury's career seemed both more interesting than we might think, and also quieter. She was a Londoner, though Reed failed to infer that a non-Hollywood background might have helped the way her career went. The Manchurian Candidate was rightly praised, though Reed claimed she was younger than Laurence Harvey, whilst playing his mother (in fact, she was 2-3 years older).

Stephen Colbert was predictably good value, and revealed the end date for his own show. Whereas musician Marc Shaiman was pushing his memoir which does sound worth the read, and amongst the many folk he's worked with, was able to share fond memories of Rob Reiner.
