The Kazak skater who went into the free skate 5th ended up taking gold as all ahead of him faltered, the French guy fell within the opening few seconds and never recovered the Japanese who was considered the only real challenger to Malinin also stumbled and failed but did ok to just about keep silver

And then it looked like Malinin would only need to stay upright to win gold but couldn't do it

Well done Matt let's hope it gives the team a lift in terms of performances - even if we don't get any more medals

Ilia Malinin is by far the best figure skater in the world but missed out on a medal when he fell twice in the free skating. But he wasn't alone, as a lot of the other contenders did the same.
This left Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan to win the gold. Or should we now say Qazaqstan.

The GB women curling team have looked lost and bereft of any confidence in their first two round robin matches against beatable opposition.

So the third round robin match against World champions Canada would surely condemn GB to a heavy defeat wouldn't it? Errrrr no.
Sophie Jackson's quartet played really well and stunned everyone including me to gain a 7-6 victory. Wow, Wow and WOOOOOOOWWWWW .

There were words in the Canada v Sweden match when a Canadian player was caught with his finger on the stone after letting go of it.

I forget which year that GB had some kind of curling success and suddenly it was a topic of culture on mainstream shows.

When they said Weston was the first GB Men's Gold for 32 years, it does beg questions why we were being hyped as though we were going to sweep all before us.
