I know I've said it before on here (early in the Ukraine thread IIRC) but even at the height of the Cold War, the whole of NATO could only sustain a conventional war against the USSR for a few weeks before running out of weapons & Ammo. If that had happened then not many of us would be here to tell the tale.

Fast Forward a few years and the US is supplying Israel and throwing everything but the kitchen Sink at Iran. If you assume that weapons stockpiles aren't what they were 30 or so years ago, then it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they can't do this indefinitely whatever the Papayatollah & WhiskyLeaks Pete claim.

Trump is asking allies to send ships to help shipping through the straight of Hormuz....Hold on. I thought the war was won and Iran armed forces were totally obliterated!?

I thought he told Starmer he ddin't need nations sending ships when the war has already been won lol.

It's not a simple thing to do. I'm sure his Admirals or even his allies if they had consulted them would have made him aware of how hard it is to secure the Strait.

Also insurance companies won't cover tankers especially in a war zone, so companies face a total loss financially if a tanker is hit.
