The format sees some notable changes for 2026 both in terms of match length and how tied matches are decided.

The first round, last 16, and quarter-finals will be contested over the best-of-seven frames, with the semi-finals extended to best-of-13 and the final played over 19 frames.

However, in a significant departure from traditional rules, matches will not feature a deciding frame.

Instead, if players are tied at 3-3, 6-6, or 9-9 depending on the round, the contest will be settled by a black-ball shootout.

Should be fun.

When Big Bob let a 2-0 lead slip back to 2-2, I feared the worst. Even at 3-2, it didn't seem safe.

Ronnie beat Doherty 4-1, though the 30 second shot clock made Ronnie play some naughty snooker he wouldn't normally play and it looked like an exhibition match. Doherty was out of practice and out of form, so was unable to take advantage, but Ronnie can be beaten under these conditions. Joe Perry was playing so well on the other table that Ronnie was lucky he wasn't his opponent. A Ronnie World Seniors title is not going to be a formality this year.

Ronnie won his 2nd match 4-2 against Peter Lines, but he had to be careful because Lines beat Bingham in the previous round, and he got his 2 frames from making frame winning breaks from Ronnie's unforced errors.

It looks like Joe Perry's won his 2nd match of the day against Matthew Stevens as well. Milkins beat Figueiredo. Craig Steadman beat Ali Carter Smile

I think Neal Foulds commented Ronnie doesn't like having to hang around for days between rounds in tournaments, so this kind of show is more up his street.

RE: World Seniors Championship 2026
We all know what happened last time Ronnie played Milkins, but this time there were no tantrums from Ronnie, no throwing his cue in the bin, just a friendly handshake at the end as Ronnie won 7-5 to reach the World Seniors final at his first attempt. It wasn't a doddle though. Milkins was matching Ronnie shot for shot in an all out attacking match that could have gone either way; until at 5-5, Milkins couldn't keep up the standard, and kept missing easy shots. Nice to see the lovely Proletina Velichkova as referee.

The other semi-final between Joe Perry and Craig Steadman starts later today.

Hey Surprised

Weird idea to run a Best of 13 with 2 intervals. But it's also weird that what only a few years ago seemed a gentle knockabout with a handful of guys has now expanded the way the tournament has.

Foulds & Parrott seemed scathing about Ronnie & Bob, but it sounded quite old school to me.

Craig Steadman leading 3-1 at the evening's first interval.
