Keir Starmer's fucked. Andy Burnham must be pissed at Starmer blocking him from the by-election which Labour lost. He'd have won that and the leadership challenge as well.

nah its wes streetings doing he knows he has to act not before burnham gets a seat jess phillips is one of his supporters so have been a few that have resigned

streeting has ties to mandleson though so hopefully that will come out in any contest

According to Guardian Deputy Political editor, Jess Elgot, 103 back benchers and PPSs have signed a statement saying now is not the time for a leadership contest. The list is a good deal larger than the the list of names calling for the PM to go and organisers say it is rising.

The list which organisers say will be published soon contains many of the 2024 intake of MPs who will no doubt feel they owe Starmer as they would have been chosen by a selection process designed and carried out by Starmerites

I've long felt that getting rid of Starmer would be the only thing worse than keeping him because the one thing that the apolitical silent majority hate more than him is the whole system and getting rid of him would exacerbate that fact.

The counter argument to that is that though the Tories fortunes never really improved much, they would have been in a much worse position if they had kept Johnson or Truss and perhaps in this new age of multi party politics and landslides on 33% replacing Starmer with someone more favorable gets Labour into the mid 20s and enough seats to form coalition in 29

Streeting arrived at No.10 for a meeting with Starmer this morning and left 16 mins later.

All of this while the King's Speech is taking place today

Streeting is doing a leadership challenge tomorrow.
I'm not keen on him, he gives me the creepy vibes.
