Late Night w/Seth Meyers
Another busy week, from Nathan Lane to Lisa Kudrow, and many others.

Inside Africa: Kenya's Creatives
Nairobi's comedy scene; apparently thriving.

The Imperial Presidency
An FZ special, which did at least accept that the US murdered Iran's leader in the mid-50s, without any help from Congress. Dick Cheney gets the credit/blame for the idea that the Nixonian "I am the law" precedent should apply to the President more fully, hence the current gung-ho craziness.

2/3 Walter Sickert and the Theatre of War
He admired Whistler and Degas, spent time in Dieppe, left the prostitutes in Venice to paint nudey ladies in Camden (it's a living), enjoyed Brighton, was in Normandy during the Jack the Ripper murders, and generally kept busy with fancy women and nights out. In fact, the one thing he didn't seem to do much was war art, but there it is.
BAaW
3/3 David Bomberg - Prophet in No Man's Land
Easily the most interesting of the three, and also the least familiar. Bomberg was a busy bee who tried several phases, including being a rifleman during WW1, had spells in Jerusalem, Toledo and London during WW2.

A good series overall.

Not that the show's been dumbed down/budget been cut, but I'm sure they could have found some stories in the last 4 months. Anyway, Artemis II gave a chance to recap the Moon, previous space expeditions, and leave poor old Pete out in his garden to run through the names of various Seas there.
TSaN - Jodrell Bank: Tuning into the Universe
Whee, location filming. The Lovell telescope looked iffy, until Sputnik assured its future. Some chat about the connections with GCHQ as its usage developed. Not a peep about Tom Baker, though.

2.3 To Louisville for much chat about horses and bourbon, sampling a beer-soaked chicken, and a hot turkey sandwich, plus a challenge with ultra-spicy popcorn and a large milkshake and one hour... though he manages it inside 3/4 of the time.
MvF
2.4 To St Louis to face a 4lb meatball on 5lb pasta, followed by BBQ loin ribs, and a challenge with a 29in pizza with 4 toppings which he could eat with a friend over half an hour, not that they completed it.

Last Week Tonight w/John Oliver
Why the Shadow Docket is such a bad idea, but more importantly why The Day of the Dolphin isn't as well known as Jaws.

The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
The hantavirus panic, and Josh Tyrangiel tries to make the case that A.I. will be a good thing (like in selling his book about it).

Omnibus: Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire
From 1995, seemingly made because she'd just died. Nice archive, especially Fred in rehearsals in 1937, in footage filmed by George Gershwin himself.

The Bottom Line
Steve Clemons talks first to semi-regular guest Daniel Levy about the likely future direction for the Iran War, then later to another semi-regular in Richard Wolff, about the gloomy prospects for the global economy as a result of reckless misadventures in the Middle East.
