Football League: Discussion

All we need now is

1. 7th placed Wrexham to complain that the playoffs should start again with them involved on the basis that Southampton have been thrown out.
2. Millwall to agree with this on the basis they lost to Hull when they could have been playing Wrexham instead.



Oh what a potential shenanigans

There going to be lots of problems getting Middlesbourgh and Hull fans to Wembley. Problems with coaches, problems with trains.

Why don't they just have the play off at Elland Road. It would save all that traveling. It would save all that fuel in a time of shortage.

After all it's not even a real trophy contest. Neither team came in the top four of the Championship.

^^ Wrexham's Josh Windass has already questioned why the Playoff haven't been restarted as without Southampton the Semi's should be Millwall v Wrexham & Middlesborough v Hull City.

Easily resolved. Promote them both & relegate Man City for all the financial cheating they’ve done

How would that work exactly? Elland Road has a capacity of 37,645 (according to Wikipedia). Hull City say they have already sold 34,000 tickets for the final.

They didn't have a spine. They asked an independent commission to hear the case and that panel came to the only conclusion they reasonably could.

A financial penalty would be meaningless when promotion to the Premier League was the prize at stake, so they had to expel them.

There is a recent precedent as Canada's women's Olympic team were deducted 6pts by FIFA after being found guilty of spying on opponents in 2024.

Like Southampton, Canada claimed the punishment was disproportionate, but their appeal to the Court Of Arbitration For Sport was rejected.
